Dear Big Springs Families,

Welcome to our new students and families, and welcome back our returning Badgers! We are excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year with you!

The staff has been working hard to get the school ready for your children, and we are anxious to begin a year of learning, growing together, and making wonderful memories.

On Monday, our first day of school, transportation will be running, although it is out of our control at this time whether it will be a bus or the vans. We will run the same routes as last year. If your child needs a ride to school, and they did not get picked up, please call the school at (530) 459-3189 and we will come and get them. We will be communicating with you about transportation in the days to follow.

We are excited for many changes this year, including good ol’ home cooking in the kitchen by Miss Cristal. To support safety and energy efficiency, microwaves will not be available for student use. Please send a cold lunch that does not require heating, or have your child eat the homemade meal that we provide for free! We are also introducing a salad bar as part of our healthier dining options. Please send your child to school with a healthy snack, again, one that does not require warming. If you would like to donate snacks to your child’s teacher, that is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you in advance!

We are delighted to welcome new staff:

Kindergarten: Mrs. Collier

Fifth Grade: Mrs. Kattie

Grade 6/7 Combo: Mrs. Harrison

Office: Miss Maralee and Miss Linda

After-school Coordinator: Mrs. Chrisman

Preschool: Miss Sam

For medical needs, parents must provide medications in the original packaging with the proper forms; staff cannot administer medications except as authorized by the school nurse or designated personnel. If your child is not feeling well, they need to communicate that with their teacher or staff, and we will have them go to the office so the secretary can communicate with you. Students are not to text or call home as the school needs to be aware of these situations.

As you can see, construction for our new Preschool/TK building is well-underway!

Finally, we are excited to have adopted a new social-emotional curriculum called Leader in Me. This program aims at developing and fostering leadership skills in all students. As much as possible, students will have opportunities to lead, at every grade level. We will communicate weekly with you regarding this program, and give you tips and language to use at home.

Back to School Night is Aug. 27 from 5:30-7:30.

Please feel free to reach out with any concerns or questions. We look forward to a fantastic year together!

Thank you!
